dinner went well So, the dinner with the parents went well. I reminded Artboy on Friday night that I had my stamping class, but that I should be home around 1pm. He started freaking out, saying he didn't know I was gone all morning, and I quickly reminded him that he DID know...that it was because of our class that I knew Mom would have that weekend off from work, and that we'd discussed it on Sunday when we sat down and planned out the menu. He asked me to write it on the calendar--which I did and pointed it out to him. I woke up at 6am, after getting very little sleep (as I had for the past week) and drove to my parent's. Mom picked up croissants, so we ate one and then off we were. The drive went quickly, and we were there before we knew it. Class was lots of fun--she had a group of women she works with there, and they were lots of fun. It looks like they've reserved every Sat morning, so if Donna continues to come with Mom and I, we're going to have to switch times or days. Boo. We left class late because Mom was trying to recreate the order that she'd written down--she couldn't find her sheet of paper with her order on it, so I didn't get home until 2:30. I had to stop and pick up some vegetables for the salad, so I stopped at the Sunshine Market and was pleased to find nice produce at a very cheap price. I felt very rushed when I got home. Still had to vacuum and clean the bathrooms, make the salad, arrange the flowers, take a shower and dry my hair. When Artboy left to get his parents, I was vacuuming and still needed to shower and arrange the flowers. I somehow managed to get all that done before they got back. Phew! Dinner was late in getting to the table. It took him longer to cook the fish than he anticipated, and we had issues with the egg, garlic and olive oil mixture for the pasta, but in the end it all turned out good. The crust for my frozen lemon tart turned out to be extremely hard (*sigh*), so I was disapointed in that, but all in all, it was a good night. The parents seemed to get along, and even my father, who is usually Mr Grump and wanting to go home as soon as you get somewhere, never once made a move to leave, and when my mom decided it was time to go home at 11:30pm, he still didn't want to go. Who is this man?? His parents brought us a plant and sparkling wine, and mine brought these candlesticks that I have loved for years. They are made by Brighton, and she used to have them at her store. I thought she'd sold them and they don't make them anymore--I didn't figure I'd ever see them again. But she's been hanging onto them all these years, waiting for a good time to give them to me. I was so surprised. Artboy likes them too. AFter they'd left and we put them on the cleared off table, he said that it just totally made the table now. We dropped off his parents at their hotel, and drove home to do the dishes. I fell into bed at 1:30am, glad I didn't have to get up early the next morning. Sunday, while ARtboy went to lunch with his family, I went to a stamping convention with Mom. This convention turned out to suck, so we were done in two hours. We went to Islands for lunch, and then I went to Lisa's to feed the dog before going back to the apartment to spend some time with Artboy before I left for the week. This week, I've been going to sleep very early, which has been nice. I didn't get much sleep last week, and have been suffering because of it. Artboy said he missed me yesterday and asked if he could stop over for an hour or so after work, which made me feel good. The dog was SOOO happy to see him--I told Lisa today when she called that she was way happier to see him than me--she wouldn't leave him alone. She said that she doesn't like many men, so that's quite a compliment to Artboy. I'll have to tell him that. Jess and I had sandwiches from PB Loco today, and they were just amazing. We got a white chocolate raspberry peanut butter sandwich with bananas and marshmellow cream --toasted-- and a cinnamon raisin peanut butter sandwich with cream cheese, granny smith apples drizzled with caramel, also toasted. So so yummy. Not overpowering in sweetness, which I was afraid of--just great. We've decided to make it our weekly lunch until we've tried all the different sandwiches. |
